Where to stay near Pioneertown and Pappy & Harriet's

The short answer:stay in northern Yucca Valley, 15 minutes from Pappy & Harriet's and 20 from the National Park. Pioneertown itself has only a handful of rooms. Boulder Horizons (sleeps 8) and Infinite Horizon (sleeps 4) are our two homes there, each with a private heated pool and hot tub on five acres, and the drive home after a show is dark, quiet, and short.

  • 5:30 PM: leave the pool. Fifteen minutes up Pioneertown Road through the boulders as the light goes gold.
  • 6 PM: walk Mane Street, the 1940s western film set that is still a town.
  • 7 PM:mesquite barbecue and the show at Pappy & Harriet's.
  • 11 PM: back at the house, hot tub, and a sky that outdoes the stage.

Beyond Pappy's

  • Pioneertown Mountains Preserve for a morning hike before the heat.
  • The Red Dog Saloon and the Pioneertown General Store on Mane Street.
  • The Integratron sound baths in Landers, 20 minutes the other way.
  • Joshua Tree National Park's west entrance, 20 minutes from the homes.

Do I need tickets for Pappy & Harriet's?

For most touring shows, yes, and they sell out; check their calendar before you book dates. Dinner and the bar are walk-in on quieter nights, and Sunday afternoons often have free music on the patio.
